Some 9 years ago, an unassumingly polite man presented at my law firm. He stuck me to be an honest man – a thoughtful man – a man who had suffered greatly, but also a fierce and fearless man.
He had come to me following his citizenship being refused on character grounds, and as a consequence, his permanent resident visa was now in peril.
He told me, in ploddingly slow and deliberately chosen words that were heavy with sorrow and longing. He spoke of the war in his homeland – of his aging parents and younger siblings – of how he had worked as a translator for the Americans and how he had believed in their promises of a brighter future. That was some 15 years ago. The Americans have long since left, turning their backs on the people and their promises.
Given his history, he fled to London – paying a people smuggler a small fortune. Shortly on arrival, he was detained. His asylum application had been stalled and appeared to be struggling. In a moment of desperation, he reached out to another people smuggler who promised asylum in Canada for a huge amount. The client sold everything he owned only to buy 12 months in an English gaol on passport issues.
Three years and many countries later, he arrives in Sydney, where he is granted protection, but one of the main purposes of this odyssey was to rescue his family and deliver them from evil, so he believed he needed Citizenship.
As soon as he applied for Australian citizenship, a cascading series of unfortunate events beset him – culminating in the department commencing proceedings to cancel his protection visa and “deport him” from Australia.
But this is when his luck turned for the better, because he found AR LAW SERVICES: Master Migration Lawyers. The matter turned on s501 and mandatory cancellation for more than 12 months in prison. (This was the incident in the UK some 10 years earlier)
Fortunately, I was able to win the case, and his PR status was returned.

A woman – a well educated, accomplished and articulate woman – approach AR LAW SERVICES: Master Migration Lawyers after years of abuse – sexual, emotional and financial abuse – at the hands of her husband. The couple had two children. Much of the abuse was fueled by alcohol.
The client recounted many harrowing incidents that lead to her hospitalization on more than one occasion, but the most poignant events where those in which she would attempt to shield her children from their fathers black rage. The injustice and betrayal of trust by this truly despicable miscreant. How could a father be so unmanly?

We had no idea what the agent looked like.

The Sting!
Given we have a crack investigation team we were able to track down another migration agent (will call him or her Larry: not his or her real name) who worked for the dodgy agent (we will call her Moe: not his or her real name) we were anxious to speak to.
Larry was very helpful – Moe was most displeased, but that came later.
Through an intermediatory a meeting was set up at a café – Larry and Moe refused to reveal if they had an office and their office’s address. (Larry & Moe only would deal in cash payments).
After Larry rescheduled the meeting with the intermediatory – changing the venue on several occasions – the meeting was set.
Our team assembled early and waited.
At the designated time we called Larry’s phone.
“Is that Larry?”
“Yes it most certainly is – I am Larry!”
“Good, is Moe there”
“Yes”
“Could I please talk to Moe”
“You certainly can – Moe, its for you!”
At which point we pounced and Moe was served!
(Moe) “Why you knuckle-head”
(Larry) Wu wu wu!
