Almost $250000 compensation win for victim of dodgy migration agent!
A couple had their lives destroyed and their dreams shattered by a most unscrupulous and incompetent – dodgy – migration agent.
As always, this cowboy – this dodgy migration agent – promised the world and delivered nothing but heart ache and woe.
First:
- The dodgy migration agent failed to make a cogent legal submission – consequently the work visa was refused
- The dodgy migration agent failed to inform the client of the visa refusal.
- The dodgy migration agent failed to file an appeal to the tribunal in the required statutory time dead line.
- The dodgy migration agent – in full panic – filed a protection visa: despite not having sort instructions from the client.
Over a year passed before the client learned the truth of their position – when contacted by the department.
Despite calling himself a “Global Immigration Leader” (they never call themselves a migration agent anymore) and telling the client he had over 20 years experience, this dodgy migration agent was nothing more than a cowardly huckster who made a series of errors due to his limited training and competence – so he basically hoodwinked or tricked the visa applicants risk their future and trust this such snake oil salesman!

The dodgy agent had – according to the office of OMARA – recently renewed his license – so he was around, somewhere.
We had no idea what the agent looked like.

The Sting!
Given we have a crack investigation team we were able to track down another migration agent (will call him or her Larry: not his or her real name) who worked for the dodgy agent (we will call her Moe: not his or her real name) we were anxious to speak to.
Larry was very helpful – Moe was most displeased, but that came later.
Through an intermediatory a meeting was set up at a café – Larry and Moe refused to reveal if they had an office and their office’s address. (Larry & Moe only would deal in cash payments).
After Larry rescheduled the meeting with the intermediatory – changing the venue on several occasions – the meeting was set.
Our team assembled early and waited.
At the designated time we called Larry’s phone.
“Is that Larry?”
“Yes it most certainly is – I am Larry!”
“Good, is Moe there”
“Yes”
“Could I please talk to Moe”
“You certainly can – Moe, its for you!”
At which point we pounced and Moe was served!
