Domestic violence – family violence – Big win at the Administrative Appeals Tribunal – Partner Visa – migration agents – compensation.
For more than 25 years I have been running AAT appeals for many clients and one of the most difficult kind of cases are those that deal with domestic/family violence.
These types of cases are one of the truly heart breaking part of this job is dealing with victims – women, kids and men too – whose relationship descends into violence. The broken lives of those who have had to endure the darkness of blinding rage – fuel by drugs, alcohol or mental illness – the damage and the bewilderment, the scars of the soul that may never heal.
Yet because of this tumult the joy of the win, like the one we had at the AAT recently, is felt more exquisitely.
The case involved a young person that had been long term partners. Throughout the relationship there had been several incidents – range from verbal abuse to rape.
Still he remained in the relationship until during the covid lock down he could no longer endure the bouts of drunken and white hot anger and following extreme violence.
